A parked vehicle was damaged Friday in a hit and run accident in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:49 p.m. a 2009 Chevrolet Impala was legally parked on the east side of the 1200 block of North Maple Street when it was damaged by another vehicle.

The other vehicle, believed to be a 2015 Dodge Journey, was southbound and struck the rear of the Impala and left the scene without notifying the owner of the Impala or the police. The accident did however, cause the front license plate of the suspect vehicle to fall off. Officers located the license plate on the back bumper of the Impala. Attempts to contact the owner of the vehicle were unsuccessful as of Saturday afternoon.

Damage to the Impala was estimated at $1,000.

A Pella woman was injured Friday in a two-vehicle accident in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:50 p.m. a 2005 Cadillac DeVille, driven by Jarilyn Schneider, 67, of Creston, was westbound on Highway 34 and attempted to turn south on to Abell Street when it was struck by a Kia Forte, year unknown, driven by Sophie Lyle, 19, of Pella, who was eastbound on Highway 34.

Schneider did not see the Forte, and, believing it was clear to turn, turned in front of it causing the Forte to collide with the rear passenger side of the DeVille.

Lyle complained of pain and possible injuries and was transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Health. Schneider was checked and cleared by medics at the scene.

Damage to the DeVille was estimated at $4,000 and damage to the Forte was estimated at $16,000.
