Tanya L. Funke, 44, of Stuart, was taken into custody 6:55 p.m. Sept. 17 on two Adair County warrants charging her with domestic abuse assault, first offense and child endangerment.

According to an Adair County report, On July 29 deputies responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Kent Avenue in Casey. The reporting party told deputies Funke had stolen a safe from a bedroom in the home which contained a handgun. Additionally, it was reported Funke had located the victim while he was at work on July 27 on two occasions and yelled and physically assaulted him. Witness statements corroborated the victim’s report.

On July 28 Funke attacked the victim at home and at one point held a knife to her throat demanding the victim and a juvenile at the residence, watch her cut her throat. Funke left the next morning taking the safe with her.

Funke was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,300 cash or surety bond.

Bianca L. McGhee, 29, and Antanea Burton, 29, both of Des Monies, were taken into custody 3:24 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Stuart Kum and Go on the charge of theft, third degree. McGhee was also charged with possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to a Stuart Police report, at approximately 12:27 p.m. two females were reported by Kum and Go employees, leaving the store with an armful of unpaid liquor bottles. The women entered the store carrying large bags, went straight to the liquor aisle and put numerous bottles of liquor in the bags before exiting through the south doors, without making any effort to pay for the items. The women got into a Chevrolet Traverse with a rear license plate covered by a medical mask.

The Traverse was located by officers on Interstate 80 eastbound at the 113 mile marker off-ramp. The occupants were identified as McGhee and Burton, who admitted to taking the items from Kum and Go without paying for them. The entire backseat of the Traverse was full or various liquor bottles. They could not provide proof of purchase for any items but said they got some from other Kum and Go locations in Iowa and Nebraska.

Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A clear plastic baggie of green leafy substance, identified as marijuana, was located in the center console. McGhee identified herself as the owner of the Traverse and stated the marijuana belonged to her baby daddy.

The total cost of items taken from Stuart was approximately $416.40 plus tax. Both women had previous theft convictions causing the charge to be enhanced.

McGhee and Burton were transported to the Adair County Jail where McGhee was released on $3,000 cash or surety bond and Burton was released on $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Drew Steckelberg, 24, of Adair, was taken into custody 3:34 p.m. Sept. 21 on the charge of theft, second degree.

According to an Adair Police report, on Sept. 20 a 2001 Dodge Ram was reported stolen from Adair. The following day, Adair Police were notified by Cass County they had pulled the vehicle over and the driver, identified as Steckelberg, said he had permission from the owner to drive the truck.

Cass County was given contact information for the owner of the truck who was contacted and told them Steckelberg did not have permission to have the truck and confirmed the truck was stolen.

Steckelberg was transported to the Adair County Jail and held on $5,000 cash or surety bond.
