Jordyn M. Gonzales, 19, of Tingley, was taken into custody 10:24 p.m. Aug. 19 on the 1300 block North Cherry Street on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - other scheduled I,II,III,IV or V controlled substance, first offense and possession of a tobacco product by a person under the age 21.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:39 p.m. officers stopped a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and contact was made with the driver, identified as Gonzales. A strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted. Officers found half of a hydrocodone pill and a vape in the center console and a vape under the seatcover of the passenger seat. All items were in reach of Gonzales.

Gonzales was taken to the Union County Jail where she was released on $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Faustino Reyes, 42, of Austin, Texas, was taken into custody 3:39 a.m. Aug. 20 at Supertel Inn & Conference Center on the charge of assault causing bodily injury.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:40 a.m. officers were called to the location for a fight which had taken place. When officers arrived, they observed a male victim with a noticeable injury on his left eye. Security footage provided to officers by management showed Reyes confronting the victim outside of the hotel and punching the victim in the face.

Reyes was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Brandon H. Whitfield, 36, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:38 p.m. Aug. 20, at his residence on a Union County warrant for violation of probation on the original charges of domestic abuse assault and eluding.

According to an Iowa Department of Corrections report, Whitfield was convicted of the original charges and received a suspended sentenced Dec. 2, 2022, of one year probation. Whitfield violated his probation by failing to enroll in the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program after being told to do so on five separate occasions, quitting his job and missing a scheduled probation appointment. Whitfield was also charged Aug. 14 in Union County for possession of a controlled substance, violation of a protective order and interference with official acts.

Whitfield was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until his initial appearance.
