A Creston man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident Friday in Union County.
According to a Union County report, at approximately 7:55 p.m. Aug. 18 a 2000 Honda Odyssey, driven by Arya Nunn, 18, of Creston, was southbound on Clover Avenue when it swerved to miss a deer, causing Nunn to lose control and enter the west ditch. The Odyssey struck the ditch at an angle, causing it to rollover and travel approximately 30 yards before coming to rest on its top.
Nunn, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered minor injuries. The passenger, Garrett Thomson, 20, of Creston, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected through the passenger side window and suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to Greater Regional Health in Creston by EMS.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reports speed was a contributing factor of the accident. Damages to the Odyssey were estimated at $10,000.
