Zachery A. Chumbley, 30, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:42 p.m. Aug. 11 on South Sumner Street on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and persons ineligible to carry dangerous weapons.

According to a Creston Police report, officers stopped a 1996 Chevrolet C15 truck for expired registration. When contact was made with the driver, identified as Chumbley, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside of the truck. A probable cause search was conducted and a small amount of marijuana and a pipe used to smoke marijuana was located. Chumbley took ownership of the items. He was also found to be in possession of a loaded handgun which he was carrying in his waistband.

Chumbley was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting was released on $2,300 bond.

Hyvis O. Thatcher, 76, of Creston, was taken into custody 4:20 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for the charge of criminal mischief, fifth degree and was additionally charged with trespass - refuse to vacate, first offense.

Further details were not available.

Thatcher was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 bond.

Brady G. Richert, 44, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:35 p.m. Aug. 12 in the alley of Pine and Walnut streets on the charges of consume alcoholic beverage in public place, first offense and disorderly conduct -loud raucous noise.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 5:23 p.m. witnesses on the 700 block of South Maple Street observed Richert screaming and exposing himself in front of his residence. Richert had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, bloodshot watery eyes and slurred speech. He refused PBT testing.

Richert was transported to the Union County Jail where he is being held on $600 bond.

Rodrick D. Rand, 44, of Creston was taken into custody 8 p.m. Aug. 12 at his residence on a Union County warrant for the charges of assault and disorderly conduct - fighting/violent behavior.

No details were available on the charges.

Rand was transported to the Union County Jail were he was released from after posting $600 bond.

At approximately 10:16 a.m. Aug. 11, Gena McFarland of Creston reported someone used her credit card Aug. 3 to purchase items from the Apple Store.

Loss was estimated at $274.51

At approximately 11:05 a.m. Aug. 11, David White of Creston reported between 9 and 11 a.m. someone slashed two tires on his truck at his residence in the 300 block of North Oak Street.

Damages were estimated at $400.

At approximately 10:06 a.m. Aug. 13, Tyler Ray of Creston reported sometime during the past two weeks, someone had entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the 1100 block of West Jefferson Street and took cash and a Leap Frog Tablet from the vehicle.

Loss was estimated at $107.
