Mark A. Weems, 40, of Creston, who is incarcerated in the Union County Jail was served at 11 a.m. April 27 on two Union County warrants for the charges of fraudulent practice, fourth degree and three counts of fraudulent practice, fifth degree.

According to a Creston Police report, on Nov. 29, 2022, Weems sold a Coleman Generator to Quick Pawn for $100. On Jan. 19 Weems sold a Honda mower with bagger attachment to Quik Pawn for $50. On Jan. 30 Weems sold a 5x8 trailer to Quick Pawn for $200. On Feb. 9 Weems sold a Harley Pan Head motorcycle frame to Quik Pawn for $650. Weems was not the owner of any of these items and did not have permission from the owner to use or sell them.

Weems bond was raised by $1,900 for a total bond of $51,900 cash or surety.

Jesse Ramey, 38, of Greenfield, was taken into custody 1:42 a.m. April 28 on the charge of OWI, second offense.

According to a Creston Police report, officers stopped a 2020 Ram pickup on Highway 25 for traveling 38 mph in a 25 mph zone. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Ramey, who originally refused officers commands to step out of the vehicle but eventually did exit. Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Ramey’s breath. Ramey also had bloodshot, watery eyes. Officers observed an open alcoholic container in the vehicle.

Ramey consented to one field sobriety test which indicated clues of impairment. He refused additional tests, including a PBT test. Ramey was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he refused consent to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. Ramey has a previous OWI conviction Dec. 15, 2017, in Union County.

Ramey was released from the Union County Jail after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
