Dalton J. Cormeny, 31, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:31 p.m. April 25 in the 800 block of North Division Street on a Union County warrant for the charge of domestic abuse assault impeding flow of air/blood.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4 a.m. April 24, officers responded to a residence on the 800 block of North Division Street for a domestic assault. When officers arrived, they spoke with a female who had injuries to her hand and face. She stated Cormeny had attacked and strangled her until she lost consciousness. An infant the victim and Cormeny have together was also struck during the assault.
Cormeny was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Mark Anthony Weems, Jr., 40, of Creston, who is incarcerated in the Union County Jail charges related to the theft and sale of motorcycles and other items, was served at 3 p.m. April 25 on a Union County warrant for two counts of burglary, third degree.
According to a Creston Police report, Weems entered a garage on New York Avenue he did not have permission to be in and did not have access to. Inside of the garage, Weems took several items including two motorcycles which were not his and sold them.
A $10,000 cash or surety bond was added to Weems’ previously set bond.

Trevor Forrest Kinkade, 32, homeless, was taken into custody 3:14 p.m. April 25 in the 600 block of North Sycamore on the charge of criminal mischief, fifth degree.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:45 p.m. a female reported a male had been at her residence and had broken a window of the residence before leaving on foot. The female gave a clothing description of the male, identified as Kinkade, who was located at a residence on the corner of Levy and Sycamore Street. Kinkade came outside and spoke to officers, who observed a cut on his hand. Kinkade admitted to being at the female’s house but said he did not break the window.
Kinkade was transported to the to Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

James Leroy Jones, 55, was taken into custody 3:15 p.m. April 25, at 105 E. Adams Street on the charge of theft, fifth degree.
According to a Creston Police report, Fareway employees observed Jones putting a bottle of Black Velvet in his jacket pocket. When contact was made with Jones, who was at self checkout, officers found the bottle of Black Velvet in his jacket. Fareway also provided officers with a video from March 31 showing Jones walking out of the store with another unpaid bottle of Black Velvet.
Jones was cited and released from the scene on a summons to appear.

Chase M. Parascando, 20, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:18 p.m. April 25 at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at 9:52 p.m. March 15, a traffic stop was conducted on a Jeep Cherokee for not having license plates. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Parascando, who had slow speech and was slow to respond to questions. The title for the vehicle he was driving had not been signed or dated. When asked to sign and date the title he put down April 1 as his purchase date, which was several weeks in the future. Parascando denied smoking any marijuana but had a green film on his tongue as well as heat bumps on the back of his throat.
Parascando consented to field sobriety testing. Parascando showed signs of impairment on field sobriety testing as well as three additional Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) tests conducted. Parascando consented to provide a urine sample for chemical testing. The urine sample was sent to the Iowa DCI Criminalistics Lab. The lab results came back with a positive screen for tricyclics and marijuana metabolites.
Parascando was released from the Union County Jail after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond. Bail of $1000 cash or approved surety was posted.
