Kenneth Killen III, 27, of Osceola, was taken into custody April 5 on a Union County warrant for the charge of violation of probation on the original charge of assault with bodily injury or mental illness.
According to a Judicial District Department of Correctional Services violation report on Oct. 15, 2021, Killen was granted a deferred judgement and sentenced to up to two years of probation on the original charge. The violation report, filed Sept. 1, 2022, alleges Killen violated the terms of probation by: failing to attend court ordered Iowa Domestic Abuse Program; has not maintained approved housing; has unpaid fines and supervision fees without any recent payments; has not completed court ordered outpatient substance abuse treatment; Aug. 11, 2022, Killen quit his job and on Aug. 23, 2022, Killen failed to attend a scheduled probation meeting and urinalysis.
A additional report of violations was filed March 2, 2023, after the probation officer was made aware of a Feb. 26 arrest in Warren County where Killen was charged with operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and driving while suspended. Killen also admitted to recent use of illegal narcotics during the arrest. Killen has had no contact with probation since Sept. 2, 2022.
Killen was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Lee Fowler, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody April 7 on a Union County warrant for the charge of violation of probation on the original charge of assault with bodily injury or mental illness.
According to a Judicial District Department of Correctional Services violation report, on Nov. 19, 2021, Fowler was granted a suspended sentence with one year of probation on the original charge. The violation report, filed March 6, alleges Fowler violated the terms of probation when he was arrested March 3 in Warren County for violation of a no contact or protective order, during which Fowler admitted to being the apartment of the protected party. The violation report was the fifth addendum filed to an original dated April 4, 2022.
On April 7 Union County District Court revoked the previous surety bond of $1,000 and set a new bond of $33,000 cash or surety. Fowler is being held in the Union County Jail.
