Joseph E. Funke, 46, of Fontanelle, was taken into custody 1:04 a.m. April 2 in Adair on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an Adair County report, Funke was a passenger in a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado at a convenience store in Adair. Deputies spoke with Funke and detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Funke admitted to smoking a joint earlier.

A probable cause search of the truck was conducted, during which a a small number of marijuana joints inside a cigarette box and a glass pipe with what appeared to methamphetamine residue inside, were located on the front floorboard of the truck inside of a grey case. An additional pipe with residue consistent with methamphetamine was located in the truck’s center console.

Funke was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Dustin Benge, 40, of Greenfield, was taken into custody 9:30 p.m. April 6 in Greenfield on an Adair County warrant for the charge of tampering with a witness.

According to a Greenfield Police report, at approximately 12:41 p.m. Benge sent a text message to a witness in a case where Benge is listed as the defendant, threatening to file charges on the victim if he did not drop charges on the active case.

Benge was transported to the Adair County Jail and held on $2,000 cash only bond.

At approximately 11:12 a.m. April 7, while incarcerated in the Adair County Jail, Benge was served an Adair County warrant for the charge of violation of probation.

According to an Iowa Department of Corrections report, on Feb. 22 Benge was sentenced to five years in prison with a suspended sentence to include three years of probation for dominion/control of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon. Benge has violated the terms of his probation on multiple occasions to include - March 13: Benge was taken into custody in Adair County for the driving while suspended and possession of a controlled substance, second offense; April 1: Benge was taken into custody in Adair County for witness tampering; On March 17 Benge was ordered to seek a substance abuse evaluation and comply with treatment plan, no evaluation report has been received by probation office.

Benge was held in Adair County Jail on $6,000 cash only bond for this charge, making his total bond amount $8,000 cash only for both warrants.
