Haylee Morgan, 20, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:24 p.m. May 31 near the intersection of Townline and Osage streets and charged with OWI, first offense.
According to an Union County Sheriff’s report, a grey 2014 Dodge Charger was observed driving on the wrong side of Osage street near the Townline intersection by law enforcement. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Morgan. During the traffic stop, Morgan was found to have bloodshot watery eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Morgan was given standardized field sobriety testing and showed signs of impairment. Morgan was offered a PBT test that indicated that her BAC was higher than .08. Morgan was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where she consented to provide a breath sample for testing to the Data Master. The result of that test indicated a BAC of .096%. Morgan did admit to law enforcement that she had drank an alcoholic beverage and operated the motor vehicle.
Morgan was released from the Union County Jail after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Shane Hunter, 44, of Afton, was taken into custody 10:15 p.m. June 1 in the 900 block of North Clayton Street in Afton and charged with simple assault.
According to an Union County Sheriff’s report, Hunter was walking his dog at approximately 10 p.m June 1 when he had contact with another make in the area who also had a dog. Both parties dogs had contact with each other, causing a verbal argument between the two men. Hunter then pushed the other male, assaulting him.
Hunter was transported to the Union County Jail where he was later released after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

On June 1, an adult male was found deceased in the driveway of a residence located on 205th Street. The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported that the death appeared to be of natural causes but that an investigation continues.
