One person was taken into custody after an early morning accident on Elm Street Saturday.
According to a Creston Police report, a 2000 Buick Lucerne, driven by Colby Burg of Creston, was traveling south on Elm Street at about 5:20 a.m. May 21, when Burg looked down at his phone and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the road and hit a city road sign before hitting a set of concrete steps that left the vehicle disabled. The accident caused minor injuries to the driver, who refused medical attention at the scene. During the accident investigation, officers took Burg into custody for driving while under the influence and transported him to the Union County Law Enforcement center.
Estimated damage to the vehicle was $3,000. Estimated damage to property that vehicle hit was $100.
