Jason Caldwell, 50, of Stuart, was taken into custody 7:18 p.m. May 2, at Fairview Church on a Adair County warrant for the charge of failure to appear.

According to an Adair County warrant, Caldwell was to appear in court on April 29 and did not appear.

He was released from the Adair County Jail after posting a $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Jayla L. Walker, 20, of Omaha, Nebraska, was taken into custody 10:53 p.m. May 3, on Interstate 80, for the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, at approximately 9:07 p.m. May 3, Walker was passenger in a white Ford transit van, traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 when a deputy observed the van without taillights near mile marker 86 and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. An odor of marijuana was present in the vehicle and all occupants were asked to exit the vehicle so that deputies could conduct a search of it. Upon searching, a purse was located next to the passenger seat, that contained two small baggies of marijuana and identification belonging to Walker was found in the purse, linking the purse and contents to Walker.

Walker was released from the Adair County Jail after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Keondre L. Evans, 20, of Omaha, Nebraska, was taken into custody 10:55 p.m. May 3, on Interstate 80, for the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, at approximately 9:07 p.m. May 3, Walker was passenger in a white Ford transit van, traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 when a deputy observed the van without taillights near mile marker 86 and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. An odor of marijuana was present in the vehicle and all occupants were asked to exit the vehicle so that deputies could conduct a search of it. Upon searching, a green backpack was located under a bench seat of the vehicle that contained a green leafy substance, through training and experience, deputies identified the substance as marijuana. An identification badge, belonging to Evans was also located in the bag, linking the bag, substance and Evans together.

Evans was released from the Adair County Jail after posting a $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Derrick J Roberson, 43, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was taken into custody 4:58 a.m. May 5, on Interstate 80, by Stuart Police Department and charged with controlled substance violation - intent to manufacture/deliver and failure to affix drug tax stamp.

According to a Stuart Police report, A white Chevrolet Suburban was observed entering Interstate 80 near mile marker 93 (Stuart) with drivers side headlight out. Observing officer initiated a traffic stop, activating the patrol unit emergency lights, the vehicle did slow down and got to the shoulder but did not stop, instead it continued east on the shoulder. The Suburban came to a stop near mile marker 94 and the driver, later identified as Roberson, immediately exited the vehicle and walked toward the patrol car. Through the officers training and experience, he stated he knew both the slowing but failure to stop immediately, and immediate exit of the vehicle to be tactics used by those attempting to conceal and transporting illegal items to create time to better conceal items and create distance from themselves and the illegal items without being asked to do so. Officers noted that when speaking with Roberson about the reason for the traffic stop, he appeared very anxious and nervous. When the officer went back to the vehicle to verify that Roberson was the sole occupant, a green leafy substance, known to be marijuana on the center console and a burnt marijuana roach in the ashtray next to the center console was visible from the drivers side window. A probable cause search was then conducted by law enforcement. During the search, officers located multiple ziplock bags containing a large quantity of marijuana flower and THC edibles inside a cooler in the rear of the vehicle. In total Roberson was in possession of 3.47 pounds of marijuana flower. Officers also located multiple receipts from dispensaries in Colorado, indicating Roberson purchased over $10,000 worth of products from April 6 - 28 and receipts from the last 30 days, showing Roberson made several trips across state lines anywhere from Wisconsin to Colorado. During an interview, Roberson told officers that he was only allowed to purchase a certain amount of product daily from the dispensaries (500 grams) and that he went back multiple days in a row to stock up before leaving Colorado for Minnesota.

Roberson was released from the Adair County Jail after posting a $10,000 cash or surety bond.

Charles Walker, 35, of Council Bluffs, was taken into custody 4:36 p.m. May 5, at Pottawattamie County Jail on an Adair County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of burglary, third degree.

According to an Adair County warrant, Walker scheduled to be in court in Adair County on Oct. 1, 2021, and did not appear.

Walker was released from the Adair County Jail after posting $5,000 cash or surety bond.

John L. Pace Jr., 51, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:10 p.m. May 7, on Henry A. Wallace near 310th Street, on the charges of driving while barred and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, 6:41 p.m., May 7, a motorcycle was observed sitting on the side of the road near the intersection of 310th and Henry A. Wallace. the plate on the motorcycle came back as being registered to Pace but was a plate for a trailer not the motorcycle. The deputy then ran the VIN number of the motorcycle, which came back as registered to Pace, who showed an Iowa license status of barred. The deputy remained in the area for a short time and observed a male, later identified as Pace, get on the motorcycle and drive south on Henry A. Wallace. A traffic stop was initiated, Pace was identified and admitted to having a barred license. After Pace was placed in handcuffs, he told deputy that he a “dugout” container with marijuana inside of it, which was located in his front pocket.

Pace was released from the Adair County Jail after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Dixie Dukes, 49, of Fontanelle, was taken into custody 10:25 p.m. May 7, in Fontanelle, she was charged with operating while under the influence, first offense.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, a black car pulled in front of a patrol vehicle near 4th and Washington streets in Fontanelle, without headlights on and that made an exaggerated wide turn. The vehicle was observed crossing onto the yellow line. A traffic stop was initiated and deputy made contact with driver, identified as Dukes, who had an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her. Dukes admitted that she probably had too much to drink. Dukes was explained the process of the one legged stand and walk and turn field sobriety tests. Dukes told the deputy that she would not be able to complete either test, after very short attempts at both. Dukes consented to a preliminary breath test (PBT), that indicated a test result over the legal limit of .08%. Based on all indicators and the PBT result, Dukes was transported to the Adair County Jail where she consented to a withdrawal of a specimen of her breath on the Datamaster, indicating a BrAC of .105%.

Dukes was cited and released from custody on a summons to appear.
