LETTER: Help needed for park addition

I attended the park and recreation board meeting a couple of weeks ago. I presented them with what the South Side Booster Club would like to purchase for Rainbow Park. We have fundraisers from time to time and our money stays in Rainbow Park. We are preparing to put a fitness center in Rainbow Park. It would be for ages 14 to adult. It would not be in a building. It would be outside. The park and recreation board liked the idea.

The club would be looking at buying three pieces to start off with. The problem we are having is the shipping is $2,500. If we have to pay that much shipping then we would have to only buy two pieces. The park and recreation board suggested that the park director check around to see if we could find some place in Iowa to purchase the equipment from and to save on the shipping. Our goal is to have several pieces over there. The park is very much used by a lot of people.

The fitness equipment would also let the older kids have something to use. Right now the older kids get on the little kids equipment for something to do. From time to time I will keep the community updated on what progress we’re making. If anyone has questions, feel free to call me.
