Melissa Y. Clark

Melissa Clark, 48, of Creston, died Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.powersfh.com.

Melissa Yvonne Clark was born Aug. 22, 1976, to Dale Lynn Clark and Sharon Sue (Creveling) Clark Kessler in Mount Ayr. She attended school at East Union. She did a lot of work on the farm growing up. Melissa also worked with White/Stone/Iowa Select Farms, then for a time with Bunn-O-Matic and most recently with Supertel Inn and Conference Center in housekeeping and at the front desk.

Melissa never met a stranger. Over the years, she enjoyed her pet pigs and loved working with her hands, especially making things out of recycled items. Many would say she was a “collector.” She especially enjoyed her job at Supertel.

Melissa is survived by her two children, Mariah Clark of Creston and Dakota Clark (Alyssa White) of Creston; her mother Sharon Kessler of Afton; stepmother, Debbie Clark of Des Moines; two brothers, David Clark (Brooke Coats) of Grand Junction, Colorado, and James (Amy) Clark of Des Moines; stepbrother Jamie (Emily) Kessler of Winterset; her good friend Deana Welcher of Thayer; aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father Dale in 2007; brother Josh Kessler in 2024; stepdad Marvin Kessler; grandparents, Doris and Bill Kessler and Elberta and Jack Clark and twin grandkids.
