Ray Eugene Clark was born May 28, 1939, the son of Ivan E. Clark and Frances Myrtle (Johnson) Clark in Ringgold County. He attended Cromwell School and graduated from Creston High School.

On Sept. 3, 1960, Gene married Judy Ann Page in Kent. They lived and worked out of Kent, with Gene driving a semi. Gene hauled hogs to Texas for Willard McIntosh and would return with watermelons. Gene started for Hills McCanna (now Wellman Foundry) in 1966, working for many years as a pattern keeper. Gene and Judy moved to Creston in 1971. Gene worked part time during the 1970s at the FINA station in Creston, operated by Motsinger. Always looking for work, he helped with farming for Willie McFee and Cliff Kindred. He retired from Wellman in 2002. Gene also delivered meals to homes for various agencies over the years.

Gene’s family was a part of a group of five families who, each fall, together invested eight weekends of wood cutting, gathering and splitting for home heating during winters. Gene and his family were avid fans and supporters of the Adams County Speedway for most of their lives. He and his family followed the NASCAR races and provided support for many events. He dearly loved his family and found endless avenues to enjoy life, work, recreation and fun with them, through every season. After he finally retired, he passed his time at local restaurants making new friends and catching up with all the people he knew through the years. Gene’s smile and hugs will be missed by many.

Survivors include his two daughters, Sally (Gordon) Hinton and Peggy Clark, both of Corning; four grandchildren, Ann Hinton (Evin Scadden) of Creston, Megan (Jesse) Dennis of Corning, Jen (Donald) Shires of Corning and Danner Jacobsen of Maryville, Missouri; six great-grandchildren: Chasin and Alibi Luther, Jayden, Brystol and Norah Dennis and Wyatt Shires; two sisters-in-law, Pam McKee of Creston and Linda Page; his neighbors that were family, the Wichharts and numerous other extended family members.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Betty Page; his wife, Judy; his daughter, Trudy (Monte) Jacobsen; a sister, Bev (Ron) Dahlberg and a nephew, David Dahlberg.
