Connie Standley

Connie Standley, 64, of Lenox, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, at MercyOne in Des Moines. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at First Baptist Church, 1001 N. Lincoln St. in Creston. Pastor Dave Tebbenkamp will officiate. Services will be livestreamed at a link under her obituary at powersfh.com. Burial will be at North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox at a later date. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be 4-8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, at the First Baptist Church in Creston.

Connie Jo Standley, daughter of Joe William Maynes Jr. and Lois Jean (Johannes) Maynes, was born on April 16, 1960, in Corning. She attended and graduated from Lenox High School in 1978. She then attended Southwest Iowa Cosmetology College for one year.

Connie was united in marriage to Mike Standley on Jan. 26, 1982, in Des Moines. The two settled on a farm near Lenox and remained there all of their married life. Connie was a loving mother and active homemaker. She homeschooled several of her children and was very involved in their lives and activities. She was their greatest cheerleader and never missed a game, 4-H event, recital or play. She taught Sunday school and worked in the nursery at church for many years. Her hospitality was displayed in many ways from cooking for her family, friends and those working on the farm to hosting hunters for many years through a bed and breakfast and organizing funeral dinners at First Baptist Church.

She was great companion and helpmate for her husband Mike, helping with many aspects of the farm from cooking and hosting seed events to running equipment in the field and running after parts. She enjoyed mowing and working in the yard and with flowers, making the farm a beautiful place to live and work. Connie gave her life to Christ as a young adult. She was devoted to loving her Lord and teaching her children and grandchildren to do the same.

Connie is survived by her husband, Mike Standley of Lenox; her children, Adam (Kellie) Standley of Centerville, Chris (Amanda) Standley of Prescott, Caleb (Mandy) Standley of Lenox, Megan (Matt) Carr of Lenox, Noah (Taylor) Standley of Creston and Michala (Tyler) Pearson of Lenox; four brothers: Bob (Debra) Maynes of Waukee, Lonnie Maynes of Lenox, Keith (Shannon) Maynes of Waukee and Nick (Florence) Maynes of Lenox; two sisters, Cindy (Bob) Ford of Dallas Center and Darcy (Justin) Stewart of Pensacola, Florida; along with her 15 grandchildren.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lois Maynes; sister, Julie, as an infant and her grandson, Hazer Standley.
