Ruby Drottz, 80, of Lorimor, died, Feb. 11, 2025, at her home. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., Creston. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate the service. The burial will be at a later date in Rising Sun Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. The family will be receiving friends from 12-2 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home in Creston.

Ruby F. Drottz was born Sept. 19. 1944, daughter of Opal Bernice (Blakley) Harvey and Clarence Virgil Harvey in Massena. She graduated from Corning High School in 1962. She later attended secretarial and clerical school.
Ruby was united in marriage to Carl Simon Drottz Sept. 26, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union, three children were born, Patrick, Michael and Terry. Ruby worked for Bankers Life Insurance Company, which later became a part of Principal Financial, doing clerical work for many years prior to retiring and moving to Lorimor.
Ruby was an active mother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing throughout her life. In her spare time in retirement she enjoyed raising goats. In her later years she was an active part of the Bonnie Quilters from Lorimor that donated quilts to newborns at Iowa Methodist Hospital and to Greater Regional Health in Creston. She also was very active in making Quilts of Valor for local area veterans.
Ruby is survived by her three sons, Patrick (Chris) Drottz of Des Moines, Michael (Renee) Drottz of Mitchellville and Terry (Stacy) Drottz of Ossian, Indiana; nine grandchildren: Tyler Neilsen, Alex Drottz, Nicole Drottz, Isaiah Rigby, Jacob Drottz, Jessica Drottz, Cameron Drottz, Katelynn Drottz and Zach Drottz; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Fran (Ken) Van Laeke of Seneca, South Carolina, Betty (Larry) Damewood of Gravity and Cathy (Jim) Eggleston of Prescott; a brother, Richard (Jan) Harvey of Prescott and a sister-in-law, Mary Harvey of Corning.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Drottz in 2021; two sisters, Carolyn Hollesen and Clara (Richard) McKee and two brothers, Darrell and David Harvey.
