Lois Thompson, 74, of Shenandoah, formerly of Creston, died Jan. 1, 2025, at Ambassador Health in Sidney. Celebration of Life Services will be 1:30 p.m., Jan. 25, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. The service will be livestreamed, found at a link under events at powersfh.com. The burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Pastor Rick Titus will officiate. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. service time Jan. 25.

Lois Ann (Young) Thompson was born Dec. 7, 1950, to George Eversole Young and Nina Lucille (Reynolds) Young in Lenox. Lois graduated from Lenox High School in 1968. She continued her education at Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, receiving secretarial training.
On Jan. 31, 1971, she was united in marriage to Jerry Lawrence Thompson in Lenox. They settled in Greenfield, where she worked as an active homemaker. Soon thereafter they moved to Creston where she continued working as an active homemaker and mother. Lois entered the working world, working for the Creston Meal Site and at Bunn-O-Matic in a variety of different assignments for nearly 20 years, prior to retiring in 2007. In 2018 she moved to Shenandoah to be near family. Lois was an active part of Faith Christian Fellowship Church in Creston.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Tracey Thompson of Los Angeles, California; her son, Jamey (Heather) Thompson of Farragut; four grandchildren: Gavin Thompson, Dane Thompson, Tyler Frost and Tayah Frost; a brother, Ron (Barb) Young of Davenport and sister, Linda (John) Weeber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry, in 2007 and sister, Carolyn (Jerry) Mauderly.
