Lorraine Stream

Lincoln, Nebraska

Lorraine Stream, 99, formerly of Creston, died Jan. 5, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Lorraine Stream, 99, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Creston, died Jan. 5, 2025, in Lincoln, only 33 days shy of her 100th birthday. She was born Feb. 7, 1925, to Charles Edwin and Coryl Frances (Bailey) Owen in Creston. She lived a full and joyful life for 99 years, providing love, support, friendship and laughter for all who knew her.

Lorraine graduated from Creston High School in 1943, remaining lifelong friends with her close-knit group of classmates. During World War II, she worked for an insurance company in Denver, Colorado, and for Trans World Airlines (TWA) in Kansas City, Missouri.

On Feb. 18, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Stream, in El Paso, Texas, shortly after he returned from World War II. They were married for 64 years before Jack’s passing in July 2010.

Many people found their way to her kitchen table. She was there everyday for her family and friends. She hosted countless birthdays, holiday celebrations and gatherings. She never missed her kids’ school functions.

Lorraine was a talented pianist, a faithful volunteer and a dangerous card player. She coordinated school carnivals, wrangled Girl and Boy Scouts, chaperoned student trips and volunteered where needed. Her home was always open, a place of warmth and welcome for all.

She is survived by her children: Cheryl (Loren) of Reno, Nevada, Vicki (Jim) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Steven (Jeannie) of Rossvile, Illinois, and Scott of Reno, Nevada. Her legacy lives through her grandchildren: Bree, Bryce, Josh, Janessa, Callie, Jordan, Amelia and Ciara as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at a future date. If you choose, the family would appreciate your support of Creston’s Food Shelf or a random act of kindness for those in need.
