Steven Trenkle, 69, of Creston, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at his home in Creston. No public services are scheduled at this time. Memorials can be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.powersfh.com.
Steve was born Aug. 3, 1955, to Joseph Aloysious Trenkle and Betty Mae (Green) Trenkle in Creston. Steve graduated from Creston Community High School in 1974. He served his country briefly as a part of the United States Navy.
In 1982, Steve was united in marriage to Cynthia Anne Clark in Council Bluffs. From this union they were blessed with two daughters, Sara and Lauren. They settled in Creston, where Steve worked for the railroad. Steve moved to Maryville, Missouri, in the early 1990s and worked as a car salesman.
In 1994, Steve moved to Sunrise Beach, Missouri, where he worked as an antique dealer and more importantly, as a stay-at-home dad, his favorite job. He thoroughly enjoyed taking time to find antique treasures to resell. In 1997, he moved to St. Joseph, Missouri, and began working for several different car dealers as a salesman. At one point, he also worked construction. He and Cynthia later divorced.
In 2018, Steve returned to Creston following his retirement. Steve enjoyed cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. Steve was also very knowledgeable about trivia regarding motorcycles, cars, etc. He loved to spoil his grandkids and enjoyed finding gifts for his family.
Steve is survived by his two daughters, Sara Trenkle and Lauren (Trevor) Sterzinger both of St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Nora Sterzinger; a brother, Joe Trenkle of Lenox and three sisters: JoAnn Vicker (Dan Means) of Creston, Linda McLaren of Griswold and Sandra (Michael) Noon of Council Bluffs.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Betty Trenkle.
