Helen A. Reeves

Helen Ann Reeves, 86, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at Lutheran Living Communities in Vinton.

Born on June 15, 1938, in Creston, Helen spent her entire life in the Union County area, growing up on a farm near Zion.

In October 1958, she married Dale Lawrence Reeves, with whom she shared 45 years until his passing in April 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Sophia (Orth) Harvey; her sister, Anita Searby; her daughter-in-law, Lynne (Christensen) Reeves and a grandson, David Reeves.

Helen is lovingly remembered by her brother, Paul Harvey of Creston; her three sons: Dr. Steven (Tammy) Reeves of Creston, Alan (Jill) Reeves of Omaha, Nebraska, and Brian (Christina) Reeves of Shellsburg; as well as nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Her greatest joy was her family, and Helen found immense happiness in their company. She had a lifelong love of reading, a passion for tending her flower garden and a took great pride in maintaining and improving her home.

Helen will be remembered for her unwavering love, strong faith, and the cherished moments she shared with those closest to her.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston, with Rev. Brian Reeves officiating, followed by burial in the Hill of Zion Cemetery. Open visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Pearson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to the Gibson memorial Library
