Ann R. Votava

Lenox

Ann R. Votava, 90, of Lenox, died Jan. 6, 2025, at the Lenox Care Center.

Ann (Zavorka) Votava was born July 27, 1934, to Louis and Antonia (Pavilicia) Zavorka in Torrington, Wyoming. Growing up, Ann moved several times before meeting and marrying James Votava on Oct. 18, 1951. Together they lived north of Clearfield on a farm. Ann was active with helping on the farm and taking care of their home, as well as doing yard work and raising a big garden.

Ann enjoyed many activities through the years including tending to her flowers, traveling to Omaha, Nebraska, and Wyoming to visit friends and family, where she could converse in Bohemian. She also enjoyed many vacation trips to California, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Las Vegas, Nevada, making memorial albums for each trip. Ann enjoyed dancing the polka and visiting any lake within the region, with a bucket of chicken.

She and Juggy also enjoyed playing pinochle and “31″ for hours with family. Ann ended every evening conversation lovingly with saying, “Dobrounoc,” pronounced du-bro nuts, meaning “good night.” Ann’s faith was a top priority to her and she was a longtime member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Lenox. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Waiting for her in heaven include her husband, James Votava; son-in-law, Jeff Wood; grandson, Seth Thompson; brothers, Louie (June and Evelyn) Zavorka, Wencil Zavorka, Joe Zavorka Sr., infant Joe Zavorka Jr. and Frank (Ruth) Zavorka; sisters, Tonie (Earnie) Wilkins and Louise (George) Urbanek; in-laws, Mary (Paul) England, Jim (Henrietta) Rood, Alice (Norm) Sedlak, Louis (Jean) Votava and Blanche (Jerry) Fillipi and brother-in-law Johnny Rutar.

Left to cherish Ann’s memory are daughters, Cathy Wood and Lynne Maben; son, Ed (Ann) Mlnarik, who we were lucky enough to find in March 2019; grandchildren: Brian (Jen) Wood, Kim Wood, Evan (Tracy) Thompson, Kevin (Jamie) Mlnarik and Deanna (Jon) Ringenberg; great-grandchildren: Cullen Wood, Cale Thompson, Anna and Nora Mlnarik and Ezra and Jonah Ringenberg; brother, Charlie (Dorthy) Zavorka; sister, Mary Rutar; sisters-in-law, Marge Zavorka and Rosemary Rood; many nieces, nephews and other relatives which she loved dearly.
