Joan Hansen, 84, of Creston, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. Celebration of Life Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Services will be livestreamed at a link under her obituary.

Joan (Jōann) was born on New Year’s Eve of 1939. She grew up in Tama County with her parents, Carrie and Vernon Becker, and her four sisters, Jane (Jack) Bogue, Ruth Becker, Marlene (Dene) Rhoads and Mary Ann (Richard) Gardner. Joan also had a half brother, Vernon “Dutch” (Kelly) Becker, who grew up in Cedar Rapids.
Joan married the love of her life, Raymon F. Hansen, June 10, 1963. Ray and Joan had two children, Kris (Jeff) Sackuvich, now in Overland Park, Kansas, and Tony (Jessica) Hansen, now in Olathe, Kansas. Ray and Joan moved to Creston in 1973. Ray passed away in 1992 and Joan continued to guide the family from their home, until her health took a turn and she moved into the Care Initiatives Care Center on Nov. 7.
Joan passed on into the hands of Jesus Christ on Christmas Day. Joan touched the lives of many family members and friends.
Surviving Joan is her sister, Mary Ann Gardner; three grandsons, Jerad (Hannah) Sackuvich of Kansas City, Missouri, Justin Sackuvich of Leawood, Kansas, and Evan Hansen of Olathe, Kansas; a great-grandson, Ryker Sackuvich and great-granddaughter, Isabelle Sackuvich.
She was loved and will be missed.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; sisters, Jane, Ruth and Marlene and her brothers-in-law, Richard, Jack and Dene.
