Donna Jean (Roush) Wilson, 92, of Mount Ayr, passed away Dec. 9, 2024, at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, with the family present from 1 to 3 p.m. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home with burial in the Redding Cemetery.
Memorials are to the family to be decided.
Donna was born April 19, 1932, to Leslie and Cleo (Posten) Roush in Taylor County. Her family lived on a farm north of New Market. She graduated from high school in Gravity in 1950.
Donna married Curtis Wilson Dec. 30, 1955, at her parent’s house in Gravity. They had three children together, Douglas Glenn, Diane Lynne and David Dean. Shortly thereafter they moved a few miles east of Redding, then to a stock farm in Maloy, where they raised 200 head of cattle and farmed 600 acres. They spent 24 years there and enjoyed visits from family, especially during the hunting season when they would stay for several days. Donna loved to cook and often made her specialty meatloaf that everyone loved.
In 1983 with the economic struggles of farming, and no kids at home anymore, they moved to Creston. Donna found her perfect job – selling Avon. She loved using it herself - wearing various jewelry, nail polish, lipstick and perfume, but the thing she loved the most was the chance to talk to people all over town. Besides being known for Avon, Donna and Curt were well known for their dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Cleo Roush; husband, Curt Wilson, daughter, Diane Drake (Dec. 8, 2024) and brother, Darrell Roush.
Left to cherish her memory include her sons, Doug (Lisa) Wilson of Creston and Dave (Sandy) Wilson of Stanton; son-in-law, Greg Drake of Mount Ayr; grandchildren: Chandra (Scott) Poore and Chanelle (Justin) Cole of Mount Ayr, Drew (Megan) Wilson of Clarinda, Brett (Samantha) Wilson of Waverly, Nebraska, Kyle (Taylor) Wilson of Creston and Korey Wilson of Des Moines; brothers, Carrell Roush of Corning and Jerry (Linda) Roush of Liberty, Missouri; sister, Deloris Roush of Rogers, Arkansas; great-grandchildren: Harper and Bronx Wilson, Carter, Jackson and Phillip Wilson, Maddox and Maverick Wilson, Griffyn and Gavyn Cole and Karly and Kamryn Poore; many other family and friends.
