Arnold Rex Jensen was born Feb. 13, 1932, to Rex Jensen and Hedwig (Schroeder) Jensen on a farm in Adair County. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1950. After graduating high school he worked as a farmhand until he entered the Army in 1953. Arnold attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, then was stationed at Fort Belvoir in Virginia for engineer training. He always said “The engineers are either building it or blowing it up.” After training, he was shipped out of San Francisco, California, to Korea. He was stationed in Pusan, Korea, for 16 months.

On March 20, 1955, he was united in marriage to Priscilla Sticken. Three children were born to this union: Cynthia Sue, Kenneth Alan and Randall Rex.

Arnold worked hard as a farmer for over 40 years. Arnold said “Three things about farming that makes it hard is milking cows, growing beans and farrowing sows.” He did all of three of these. He thought the best way to raise kids was on the farm.

After retiring from farming he worked at Bunn and Eaton.

Arnold loved to do woodworking. He made sure all his family had something special. He made airplanes, quilt racks, jewelry boxes and many other items. His favorite wood was walnut and his favorite tool was the planer. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting fox, coyotes, goose and ducks with friends.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Priscilla; his parents, parents-in-law, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a grandson.

He is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Roger) Anderson; sons, Kenny (Pam) and Randy (Lori); eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy (Marilyn) Jensen; brother-in-law, Gerald Sticken and sister-in-law, Phyllis (Max) Feick and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family expresses their gratitude for all acts of kindness shown to them during this time.
