Douglas Martin Frederick was born July 14, 1966, the son of Ed Frederick and Bonnie (Ergenbright) Baker. He was a proud graduate of the class of 1984. He attended SWCC for a short time before entering the workforce at the Gummi Bear candy factory. In April 1990, he moved to Jonesboro, Arkasas, where his Aunt Marlene and Uncle Larry Olson lived. Over the 34 years he lived in Arkansas, he came home many times for family events and class reunions.

Doug worked for Jonesboro City Water and Light for 20 years, earning his Class 4 operator’s license in Wastewater Management. He then moved to Brookland, Arkansas, and served as a building inspector for six years. Due to years of manual labor and recurring back issues, Doug was forced to take an early retirement.

In 1999, Doug married Dorthy Young. Doug was blessed with two stepchilden he adored, Jeremy Young and Mary Katherine Brown (Young). Doug and Dorthy divorced years later.

Doug had two lifelong passions - fishing and football. He always brought his fishing poles all the way to Iowa because he refused to go back to Arkansas without testing out the pond on the Miller Farm. The only football team that EVER mattered in his world was the Pittsburgh Steelers. After all the years Doug played football, his mom still didn’t know much about the game, but she would watch every Steelers game, knowing she would be quizzed about it the next time they talked.
