Earl William Hall was born March 9, 1945, to Jesse Edward Hall and Mary Ellen (Keating) Hall in Creston. Earl attended country school through the eighth grade. He graduated from Creston Community High School in 1963, where he had been an active member of the FFA. Earl went on to serve his country as a part of the United States Army from 1963-1966, serving in both Korea and Vietnam.

Following his return from the military, he worked at several local gas stations and a couple different feed stores including Purina.

He was united in marriage to Mary Katherine Cundiff on July 28, 1967. They settled in the Creston area, where he worked in a plumbing and heating shop, Iowa Star Silos, Spahn and Rose in Afton and other general construction jobs through the years.

In 1971 Earl built a home northeast of Creston where he and Kathy settled that October. He built log homes across the United States and was co-owner of R & E Tools and Furniture and Hall Crafts. He participated in many construction projects in the area including a home for his brother, Floyd; the first chicken confinement in Union County; the museum at McKinley Park and updates and repairs to many outbuildings in Lincoln Township, to mention a few.

In his free time Earl made a three-story doll house for his daughter Carla, took his children to Mount Pleasant to the Puffer Belly Days Celebration (sometimes when they were so small he had to carry them before the day was over) and every other year he took them to the Iowa State Fair. But the thing Earl enjoyed the most was going hunting, whether it be for deer, turkeys, mushrooms or cans in the ditch in the spring. If he could take the kids with him, it was even better. He also enjoyed gardening and being able to bring Kathy fresh flowers from the garden.

Earl was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Creston VFW.

Earl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathy Hall of Creston; his children, Randy Hall of Creston, Mark Hall of Creston and Carla Neely of Wisconsin; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Charles, Jesse Jr., John and Floyd and sister, Ann Bryant.
