Shirley Davis, 79, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Creston, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.

Shirley Jean Davis was born April 25, 1945, daughter of Robert Burle Baker and Wanda Burnedith (Osmon) Baker in Jacksonville, Florida. Shirley graduated from Ellington High School in Ellington, Missouri, in 1963.
Shirley was united in marriage to Lawrence Martin Davis June 5, 1963, in Ellington. They lived in several locations while Larry was in the military before settling in St. Louis, where she worked as a nurse’s aide. In 1972, they moved to St. Peters, Missouri, where she worked for many years as a homemaker, school cook and active mother, until her retirement in 2006. Following her retirement, they moved to Creston to be near family.
Shirley is survived by her children: Belinda (Jeff) LaFrance of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Jeanna (Eric) Eklund of Afton, Larry (Shay) Davis of Nixa, Missouri, and Nicole (Ronnie) Shanley of Flowery Branch, Georgia; 14 grandchildren: Rachel (Andrew) Breedlove, Aaron (Beth) LaFrance, Logan Davis, Lindsey (Josh) Brobst, Jerod Eklund, Jacy (Cazlyn) Eklund, Megan Davis, Jayneva Davis, Marek Davis, Xyah Ra, Aman Rawlings, Jonathan Rascher, Tyler Rascher and Trevor Besancenez; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed (Brenda) Baker of Ellington, Missouri, and Sam (Pam) Baker of Columbia, Missouri; four sisters: Joan (Bob) Bewley of Van Buren, Missouri, Kathy (Johnny) Munger of Republic, Missouri, Missy (Scott) Jaques of West Plains, Missouri, and Betsy (Wayne) Swyres of Ellington, Missouri.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry, in 2021 and brother, Patrick Baker.
