Brett Wayne Larkin, the son of Rick Russell Spainhower and Carla Rae (Downey) Beavers, was born May 29, 1967, in Creston. Brett entered into eternal rest on Oct. 8, 2024, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, at the age of 57. Family will receive friends 2–4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center.

Brett graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1985. Soon after graduation, Brett moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he met his wife and mother to his sons, Randy and Richard. Brett moved back to Creston a few years later and started working for Frito-Lay for a few years. He then worked for Ferrara Candy Company as a supervisor, a few years later he worked for Creative Innovations and then Aramark. Most recently, Brett worked for Michaels Foods as a material handler/forklift operator. Brett lived most of his life in Creston.

His hobbies included watching football with his friend Chad Engdahl on Sundays and fishing and grilling with his friends and family.

Left to cherish Brett’s memory are his two sons, Richard (Montana) Larkin and Randy (Peyton) Larkin, both of Creston. His grandchildren: Dalton, Cruze, Oliver, Charlotte and Mallory. His mother, Leta Larkin of Creston; his stepmother, Lisa Spainhower of Creston; his brothers: R.T. (Jennifer) Spainhower of Washington state, Aaron (Gina) Spainhower of Washington state and Dustin (Shelby) Spainhower of Kansas City, Missouri; his sisters: Tina (Gary) Lybarger of Harrison, Arkansas, Tammy Henderson of Creston, Becky Mullin of Creston, Lisa Hill of San Antonio, Texas, Mycale Downey (Andy Konkler) of Creston and Kristi Vicker of Creston; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Brett in death was his father, Rick Spainhower; his mother, Carla (Beavers) Downey; his adoptive father, John Larkin; his grandparents, Gladys and Russell Spainhower and Raymond and Effie Downey; his sister, Kally Jo Spainhower and his brothers: Micheal Beavers, Brady Larkin, Mark Larkin and Curtiss Downey.
