Jean Stoll, 90, of Creston, died Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.

Jean Stoll, 90, of Creston, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church in Creston. Pastor John Rutz will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Orient Cemetery in Orient. Open visitation will be 2-7 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Jean Rose (Hodges) Stoll was born Oct. 18, 1933, daughter of Henry Frank Hodges and Estella Rose (Eggen) Hodges in Des Moines. She graduated from East High School with the class of 1952.

On Sept. 14, 1952, Jean was united in marriage to Howard Raymond Stoll in Des Moines. This union was blessed with four children: Janel, Edward, Arnold and Norman. Following their marriage, Jean continued to work for Northwestern Bell Company in Des Moines. In the 1960s, Jean and her family moved to the Orient area where she worked at Kmart and was one of their start up employees. In the early 1980s, she moved to Creston following the closing of Kmart. Jean was then employed at Gummy Bear and part time at Pizza Hut. Jean later began working at Bunn and did so into her 70s until she retired. In her retirement, Jean volunteered at Greater Regional Medical Center as well as the Rerun Thrift Store, both in Creston.

Jean was an active and faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield and later, Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Janel (Joe) Schaefer of Creston; three sons: Edward (Leshia) Stoll of Osceola, Arnold (Melody) Stoll of Creston and Norman (Amy) Stoll of Cedar Falls; grandchildren: Jamie (Katie) Schaefer and daughter Emma, Jennifer (Jim) Martin and daughter, Haley, Katie Stoll and daughter, Tegan Cross, Matthew (Shelby) Stoll and their children Austin, Haiden and Kasten, Nicole (Andy) Jennett and children Olivia and Evan, Alex Stoll (Victoria Monfiero) and their children, Victoria, Amelia, Albert, Felix and Madison, Jeremy Stoll, Samantha Stoll and Logan Stoll; her twin brother, Dean (Mary) Hodges of Des Moines and brother, Rev. Leon Hodges of Atlantic; along with other extended relatives and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Janet Hodges and former husband, Howard in 2015.
