Josh Kessler, 42, of Afton, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024.

Josh Kessler, 42, of Afton, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, in Afton following a vehicle accident. Celebration of Life Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate. Services will be livestreamed by following the link at www.powersfh.com. Open visitation will be 1-5 p.m., with family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Joshua Earl Kessler was born June 28, 1982, to Marvin Ernest Kessler and Sharon Sue (Creveling) Kessler in Creston. Josh graduated from East Union High School in 2001.

Josh and Amy were united as a couple in 2003. They settled in Afton where he started and ran Kessler Construction, installing fiber optic lines in the surrounding area. Josh was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Lorimor.

Josh is survived by his friend Amy Willett of Afton; mother, Sharon Kessler of Creston; a son, Kyson Kessler of Afton; two brothers, David (Brooke) Clark of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Jamie (Emily) Kessler of Winterset; a sister, Melissa Clark of Creston; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends .

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Kessler; grandparents, William (Doris) Kessler; father-in-law, Jack Willett and aunt, Marlene Smisek.
