Lois was born Dec. 30, 1942, to John and Mary Pfeiffer in Ellsworth, Kansas. Mom grew up in Wilson, Kansas. Mom’s parents were all Czech and her father had a splash of German. Wilson was a Bohemian/Czech community town. The town celebrated Czech heritage each year. Mom grew up with Kolaches, Hoska and Rohli. All of these items were traditionally served at each family gathering.

After high school, mom moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to attend IBM trade school. During this time, she met Lanny Benoit and they were married July 7, 1962, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson, Kansas. After they were married, they resided in Harlan. During that time, they had their first two children, Shawn and Chad.

In 1968, mom and dad moved to Creston and that is when their third child, Tracy, was born. Mom worked most of her life in agriculture. In 2009, she retired as the office manager from the Farmers Co-op in Afton. After retirement, mom and dad had plenty of time to spend with their family.

They traveled and followed their grandkids to each sporting event throughout the grandkids’ high school years. Family was everything to her. Mom was a woman of much grace, affection and class. She cherished every moment with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, as she was to theirs.

Throughout mom’s life, she enjoyed camping, gardening, working in the yard, cooking, attending the Iowa State Fair and getting her nails and hair done. She also loved her Thursday nights with her friends. Mom was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston.

Lois is survived by her two daughters: Shawn (Brian) Smith and Tracy (Scot) Benoit Ostendorf; five grandkids: Jordan, Logan, Zachary, Kinsey and Kassey; two stepgrandchildren: Dylan and Alec; her sisters: Mary Ann Kasper, Barbara (Chuck) Harper and Pat Hepner; brothers: John (Chrissy) Pfeiffer and Jerry (Janet) Pfeiffer; brother-in-law, Jamie (Margie) Benoit; sister-in-law, Judy Knudson; many nieces and nephews, along with many friends from all over.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Lanny; son, Chad; parents, John and Mary Pfeiffer; father- and mother-in-law, Harold and Alice Benoit; brothers-in-law, William Keith Kasper and Larry Knudson and nephew, Keith Randal Kasper.
