Douglas Leroy Wilson (Doug), 63, of Cumming, Georgia, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, July 8, 2024, at his summer home in Owls Head, Maine.

Doug was born Dec. 15, 1960, to Darrel and Rosalie Wilson in Atchison, Kansas. After graduating from Creston High School in 1979, he studied business at the University of Iowa.

Doug was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he made clear through his actions. He was unendingly proud of his daughters and wife and always tried his best to support them.

Doug was a passionate Iowa Hawkeye fan, go-karter, NASCAR fan and Caitlyn Clark fan. He could often be found at home, working on his go-karts, watching football and basketball or cooking up something amazing on the Blackstone or grill (specifically beef tenderloin). When he wasn’t home, he could be found taking his family on a drive through the mountains, visiting his favorite restaurants or wrangling his grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Doug knew he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.

Doug was predeceased by his grandparents, Ralph and Marie Weik and Charles and Madeline Wilson.

He is survived by his spouse of 34 years, Gail Wilson; his daughters, Rachel (Alan) Green and Emma Wilson; three grandchildren: Camden Douglas, Knox Alan and Isla Madeline; his parents, Darrel and Rosalie Wilson; his brother, Rick Wilson (Anastasia Mase); nephew, Luca Wilson; many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Doug was a very loved and cherished family man. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Doug’s charity of choice - University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
