Glenda K. Adamson

Creston

Glenda K. Adamson, 83, of Creston, died July 4, 2024.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Glenda Kay (Belgarde) Adamson, who left us peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 4, 2024. A Celebration of Life for Glenda will be held at 11 a.m. July 22 at the Cromwell Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Glenda’s memory to the family. Condolences may be expressed online at www.powersfh.com.

Born on Dec. 18, 1940, in Adel, Glenda was the beloved second child of Gregory and Florence (Belgarde) Eaton. A proud alumna of Adel High School, she cherished her time playing the French horn in the band and singing in the chorus. A highlight of her youth was the opportunity to sing on the Bill Reilly TV show.

It was during these formative years she met Duane “Shorty” Adamson, who would later become her loving husband. On a hot summer day, Aug. 1, 1959, Glenda and Shorty were united in marriage at the Adel Christian Church. Their blessed union brought forth four wonderful sons.

Choosing to distance themselves from the hustle and bustle of city life, Glenda and Shorty made a home in Creston. Glenda dedicated 20 years of her life to a local daycare before serving an additional 20 years at MATURA. Glenda loved to cook and was known for her ability to create delicious meals from simple ingredients. She loved baking and hosting family gatherings. She especially enjoyed hosting an annual Fourth of July gathering for friends and family at McKinley Park in Creston.

She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Duane “Shorty” Adamson; sons, Kent (Lindsay) Adamson of Creston, Kelly (Carrie) Adamson of Creston, Keith Adamson of Des Moines and Kris (Tami) Adamson of Creston; brother, Gaylord “Swede” (Tana) Belgarde of Urbana; sister, Gayla “Midge” (Pete) Strand of Adel; in-laws, Jan Crawford, Eddie (Annette) Adamson and Dale Adamson; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Glenda is preceded in death by her mother, Florence (Belgarde) Eaton; stepfather, Sam Eaton; brothers, Gary and Gene Belgarde; sisters, Gloris Hubel and Gwenith Snyder; grandchild, Kasey Adamson; great-grandchildren, Maverick Saul and Baby Palmitier and in-laws, Raymond and Irene Adamson and Bob Crawford.

Glenda’s spirit, love and memories will forever be cherished by her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
