Carol A. Moore, 79, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Creston, died June 7, 2024, in Mission, Texas.

Carol Ann Moore was born Aug. 21, 1944, the daughter of Glen and Betty (Easton) Petersen in rural Adair County, near Greenfield. She passed away suddenly, Friday, June 7, 2024, in Mission, Texas, at the age of 79 years, 9 months, 17 days.

Carol was raised on a farm near Greenfield and attended rural schools through seventh grade. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1962.

On Sept. 1, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Lynn Moore, also from Greenfield. To this union, three children were born, David John, Debra Ann and Susan Kay. They lived in several places including Colorado, Wisconsin and Iowa, where Gary worked for different electrical utilities. For the most part they lived in Creston and then Orient. She worked many years for Bunn-O-Matic Corporation in Creston until she and Gary retired in 2003.

After enjoying their first winter in the McAllen, Texas, area, they decided to move there. They loved the climate and lifestyle there, but enjoyed their camping trips back to Iowa and South Dakota in the summer each year. In the past several years, Carol faithfully cared for her husband, Gary, as he faced many health challenges. Carol enjoyed camping, crafts, quilting and visiting with friends. She loved keeping up with all their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved the many dogs that she had over the years.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Betty Petersen and parents-in-law, Det and Bernice Moore.

Carol is survived by her husband, Gary Moore; son, David (Carol Grace) Moore of Johnston; daughters, Deb (Eric) Springer of Canton, South Dakota, and Susan (Chris) Laird of Alto, Texas; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Springer (Josh) Montgomery, Emily Springer (Anthony) Johnson, Matthew and Mitchell Springer, Drew (Mariana Cortez) Laird, Madison Laird (Mark) Macias and Mason (Krista) Laird; great-grandchildren, Morrison and Abraham Montgomery; stepgreat-granddaughter, Rian Montgomery, Elias Macias and Aubrey Laird; brother, Roger (Susan Sandholm) Petersen of West Des Moines; nephews, Christian (Sarah) Petersen and children Sylvia and Jonas, and Andrew Petersen; niece, Jan-Marie Petersen and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Orient Cemetery.
