Robert “Bob” Eklund, 78, of Afton, died Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at his home in Afton. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., June 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston. Pastor John Rutz will officiate. The service will be livestreamed found on a link in events at www.powersfh.com. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery near Shannon City. Open visitation will be 2-7 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 21, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Robert Lee Eklund was born Jan. 23, 1946, to Raymond Carl Eklund and Agnes Marie (Swanson) Eklund in Creston. Bob attended Shannon City schools through the eighth grade and graduated from East Union High School in 1964. He continued his education by attending Creston Community College.
On Aug. 1, 1965, Bob was united in marriage to Sharon Rose Moon in Afton. They settled on a farm southwest of Afton where he farmed the rest of his working life. Bob was a lifelong resident of the Shannon City and Afton areas. His passions in life included farming, cattle and of course, his family.
Bob was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Creston, the North American Limousine Foundation and the Union County Fair Beef Committee. Bob was also an active Farm Bureau member and a 4-H leader.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Afton; his children, Teresa (Brian) Cose of Sherill, Eric (Jeanna) Eklund of Afton and Carl (Lindsay) Eklund of Shannon City; two sisters, Sharon (Craig) Wasteney of Hannibal, Missouri, and Kathy (Joe) Haines of Des Moines; brother-in-law, Ron (Hallie) Moon of Harlingen, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Alyssa, Brittney, Tori, Jerod, Jacy, Logan, Lindsay, Cale, Ivy and Coy; seven great-grandchildren: Roman, Korra, Isabella, Lela, Brooklin, Jaxie and Aryanna; along with one nephew and five nieces.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Agnes and his in-laws, John and Jackie Moon.
