JoAnn Foster, 89, of Creston, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Creston Specialty Care. Memorial Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center.

JoAnn Foster was born July 10, 1934, the daughter of Nally Otis and Stella Victoria (Gault) Bryant at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. JoAnn was raised and educated in Des Moines and graduated early from East High School in January 1953. On Nov. 1, 1958, JoAnn was united in marriage to George Foster in Cromwell. The couple made their home in Creston and were blessed with three children: Terry, Troy and Tracy.
JoAnn was never one to sit idle and she was always busy with the kids or working. She worked for more than 40 years for Creston Community Schools as a crossing guard at the Lincoln School. Over the years, she met many young children who still remember her today.
Preceding JoAnn in death was her husband, George Foster on June 19, 2023; her parents; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Maxine (Bert) Strong; Mildred (Bob) Bellis; and Nina (Kenny) Norman; her brother and sister-in-law, Carl (Mary) Bryant and a grandchild, Pryce Creighton.
JoAnn is survived by her children: Terry (Joy) Foster of Casey; Troy (Virginia) Foster of Creston and Tracy (Daniel) Creighton of Grimes; five grandchildren: Brook (Rich) Lilly; Dustin (Tricia) Foster; Brandi Creighton; Taylor (Chase) Maynes and Quynn Foster. JoAnn is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Makenna (Joe) Vais, Louden Foster, Zane Lilly, Ashlynn Foster, Hayden Foster and Ellie Maynes and one great-great-grandchild, Bennett Vais.
