Donald Mosman, 93, of Creston, died Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.

Donald Mosman, 93, of Creston, died Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston. Pastor Evan McVann will officiate the service. The service will be livestreamed, found on a link under events at www.powersfh.com. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at a later date. Don donated his body to a medical school. Open visitation will be 2-7 p.m., with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2024, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Flag presentation by the Theodore J. Martens Post 1797 of the Creston V.F.W.

Donald Wayne Mosman was born Sept. 13, 1930, the son of Chester Roquel Mosman and Florence Christine (Hultquist) Mosman, in Montgomery County. Don schooled at #5 Lincoln country school and graduated from Creston High School in 1948. He later studied electronics. Don committed to the United States Air Force in January 1951, and first served in Alaska, then to Sumter, South Carolina, finishing his service January 1955.

On May 6, 1952, Don married Helen Faye Bolton in Grant City, Missouri. Returning to Creston, Don worked for Morrow Electric, later purchasing the television portion of that business in 1961. In 1970 he added appliances known as Mosman TV & Appliance. He later sold his business in stages, to his ambitious employee John Cook.

Don was a longtime member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Creston, a lifetime member of the Creston Elks Lodge, serving as state vice-president, exalted ruler and district deputy. He was also a lifetime member of the Creston VFW, was a member with the Creston Masonic Lodge, a member of the ZaGaZig Shriners for over 60 years, an active member of the Crestmoor Golf Club, serving as president for two years and a Creston Parks and Rec. board member. Don also served three years on the Creston School Board, was voted “Citizen of the Year” in 2004 and was president and secretary of the Union County Historical Society from 2003 to 2015.

Don volunteered cooking and serving with all of these groups in addition to volunteering at Greater Regional Health as an informational guide and with Lifeline, doing installations. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 71 plus years, Helen Mosman of Creston; daughter Terri “Ri” (Terry) Hannah of Redfield; son Douglas (Nancy) Mosman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister, Dorothy (Harvey) Shields of Afton; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Miller of Creston; five grandchildren: Genny Mosman, Sasha Mosman, Bon Mosman, Brenden (Erin) Hannah and Derek (Kayla) Hannah; six great-grandchildren: Hadley Sedore, Spencer Mosman, Parker, Ellie, Hayes and Cash Hannah and many other beloved extended family.

Don is preceded in death by his parents; a baby sister, Marilyn; a sister-in-law, Juanita Lewis and a brother-in-law, Hugh “Bud” Bolton.
