Danny Williams, 72, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Creston, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023.

Danny Williams, 72, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Afton, passed away Dec. 27, 2023, at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Powers Funeral Home in Afton. The family requests casual dress for the service and visitation. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery near Afton. Pastor William Richardson will officiate. Open visitation will be from 1-6 p.m., with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1. at Powers Funeral Home in Afton.

Danny Wayne Williams was born July 8, 1951, the son of Laurel Waldo and Dorothy Faye (Goben) Williams in Chariton. Danny attended Creston Community schools.

Danny was united in marriage in 1972 to Bonnie Lee Bucy in Creston. From this union, two children were born, Danny Lee and Dwayne Lucas. The family settled in Creston where Danny worked in construction doing basement repairs. In 1975, he began working for the railroad as part of a welding group. Danny and Bonnie later divorced. In 1987 and again in 1998, Danny was united in marriage to Mary Kelly in Creston.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Afton and a member of a local bowling league. Danny was always there to lend someone a hand, no matter the project or Danny’s schedule.

Danny is survived by his wife, Mary Kelly of Mount Ayr; his sons, Danny (Jennifer) Williams and Dwayne (Mia) Williams, both of Afton; a step-son, Anthony Stevens of Creston; a sister, Marky West of Afton; along with four grandchildren: Dakota Williams, Gunner Williams, Aubree Williams and Kyndal Williams.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers: Jim Williams, Waldo “Bud” (Laurel) Williams and David Williams and a brother-in-law, Dean”O” West.
