Sherry Diane (Snyder) Bradley was born July 15, 1943, to Gerald Osborn Snyder and Helen Pearl (Olmstead) Snyder in Creston. She attended East Union Schools and graduated in 1961. Sherry was raised in the Methodist church and later joined St. Edwards Catholic Church, where she was an active and faithful member throughout her life.
James “Jim” Paul Bradley and Sherry Diane Snyder began their lifelong love story when Jim offered Sherry a ride home after a ball game. They were united in marriage Nov. 3, 1962, at St. Edwards Catholic Church. Jim and Sherry were blessed with five children, each of whom they bestowed the initials “T.J.”. Together they represented the meaning of true love and commitment for over 60 years.
After high school, Sherry worked at the phone company in Uptown Creston. While raising her young children, Sherry worked at the Afton Co-Op. Sherry’s most rewarding vocation was as a transcriptionist at Greater Regional Hospital. She enjoyed the challenge of translating the physicians’ dictation and learning all of the medical terminology she could.
After her retirement in 2007, Sherry enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, quilting, knitting, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She jumped at every chance to care for her many grandchildren. When her children where young, she would spend countless hours sewing clothing for them. As they began their own families, she lovingly made baby blankets and Christmas stockings. Her grandchildren cherished the beautiful quilts she gifted them for weddings and graduations.
Though her delicious dishes are documented in a family cookbook, nothing can compare to her versions, as her recipes included phrases such as “some” or “until it looks right,” with directions as simply “bake.”
Sherry is survived by her husband, Jim; children: Teri Jo (Dan) Stream, Tami (Norm) Rea, Traci (Mike) Lebeda, Tina (Ed) McCreary and Tom (Marcy) Bradley; grandchildren: Paul (Katey), Bob, Brad (Ashley) and Ashley (Stacey) Stream, Lillie and Joseph Rea, Nathan (Tasha), Nicole (Logan), Megan and Jayson Haley, Ethan and Noah Lebeda, Jed (Ashley), Jacob (Genevieve) and Jessica McCreary and Sophie, Emma and Jerett Bradley; great-grandchildren: Isabella, Greyson, Paxton, Keegan, Hayden, Willow, Eva, Jessalyn, Tailyn, Rhett, Novaleigh, Ella, Llynndyn and Llaykynn. She is also remembered by her many beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as extended family and friends.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Helen Snyder; brother, Richard Snyder; sister, Colette Snyder; parents-in-law, Dennis and Theola Bradley; sister-in-law, Patricia Auffert; son-in-law, Greg Haley and grandson, Tyler Thomas Bradley.
