Debra J. Scadden

Debra Jean Scadden, born Aug. 18, 1958, in Creston, passed to the Lord on Nov. 5, 2023, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Debra is survived by her life partner, Jack Rettig; parents, Merlin and Kathryn Scadden; siblings: Jack Lloyd Scadden (Catherine), Brenda Scadden Baird (Tom) and Kevin Scadden; nephews: Evin Lawrence Scadden and Quinton Jack Scadden; niece, Kaytee Scadden Bennett (Cory) and great-nephew, Beckett Bennett.

Debra spent the first half of her professional career in the hotel industry, helping grow Residence Inn from four hotels to over 200 prior to the sale of Residence Inn to Marriott. She spent the second half of her career attending law school at Oklahoma City University, where she met her life partner, and practicing law in Lafayette, Louisiana. Debra helped Jack raise his daughter, Lauren, and supported building and selling Jack’s oilfield service companies.

Debra traveled the world at a young age while raising four dogs – Frampton, Max, Stella and Mick Jagger.

She lived a private life and wants to be remembered with her last acts of kindness and a smile meant for you.
