Vicki S. Means

Ormond Beach, Florida

Vicki S. Means, 73, of Ormand Beach, Florida, formerly of Creston, died Oct. 28, 2023.

Vicki Sue Means was born June 6, 1950, in Conway. She died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, at the age of 73, in Ormond Beach, Florida.

Vicki graduated from Creston High School in Creston in 1968, and went on to The Business School at CE Commerce in Omaha, Nebraska, to finish her education.

She was employed by Deltona House Rentals as a property manager for the last 20 years. Prior to that, she was a secretary at Riverbend Church in Ormond Beach, where she had been a member for 27 years.

Vicki grew up in Iowa, but in her mid-30′s she decided she needed a change, so she packed up her stuff and moved to Hawaii with Nelson and Brenda Frahm. While in Hawaii, Vicki learned to surf and continued surfing when she moved to Florida. She learned to ride a motorcycle and rode for many years.

However, her life changed when she came to Christ in 1992. She became very active at Riverbend Community Church, working in several ministries. But her favorite ministry always had to do with children. She loved children. She taught 2-year-olds for many years, watched the kids during the Ormond Beach Passion Play and watched the choir members kids during choir practice.

Vicki never married and never had children of her own, but her arms were big enough to hold all the children of her church family. Many of the children she taught as 2-year-olds are now married and have children of their own. They all remember Miss Vicki with love.

Vicki is survived by a sister; Nancy (Larry) Latham of Creston; brothers: Larry (Pat) Means of Creston and Kevin (Andrea) Means of La Vista, Nebraska; numerous nieces and nephews.

Vicki was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Phyllis Means of Creston and brother; Jim Means also of Creston.

A celebration of Vicki’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Riverbend Community Church in Ormond Beach. Pastor Jason Karr will officiate.
