Larry Beal Lines, 84, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Creston, passed away on Sept. 15, 2023.
He was born on March 30, 1939, in Kent.
Larry leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce Lines of 57 years; his son, Jason Lines; daughter-in-law, DeeDee Lines and granddaughter, Sawyer Lines. He also leaves behind his sisters, Linda Jeske and Cinda Carbone and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Wallace Lines.
During his college years at Indiana Technical College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Larry developed a passion for flying and learned to pilot a Cessna 140 while working at the local airport. Larry served his country with honor and dedication in the United States Navy for four years and four months as an Air Controlman. His military service was a testament to his commitment to duty and his country.
In his professional life, Larry excelled as a manufacturing engineer. He worked at Stewart-Warner Corporation in Chicago, Illinois, from 1966 to 1968, where he contributed to the development of vehicle instruments. Larry then joined Fansteel Incorporated in North Chicago, Illinois, where he worked as a manufacturing engineer from 1968 to 1990. At Fansteel, he specialized in the manufacturing of specialty components for the aerospace industry and worked on the development of crucibles fabricated from Tribocor for the production casting of uranium traveling to Japan, Germany and England.
When Fansteel closed its doors, Larry was transferred to Fansteel Wellman Dynamics in Creston as a development engineer for another two years. After a successful career, Larry retired from Goodman Packaging Corporation in Lake Forest, Illinois, where he worked as a field service representative and project engineer, traveling across the United States programming robotic packaging equipment from 1993 until his retirement in 2005.
Outside of his professional life, Larry had a passion for golf, camping and watching sports on TV. These hobbies brought him great joy and allowed him to connect with friends and family. Larry’s legacy will be remembered by his loved ones and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished.
A private graveside service to honor Larry’s life will be held in Illinois at a future date.
