Janet Jorene Sobotka, daughter of Gerald Lonnecker and Olive (Watson) Lonnecker, was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Creston. She graduated from Creston High School in 1950.
On Oct. 17, 1950, Jorene was married to Eldon G. (Bud) Sobotka in Diagonal. They made their home in Creston. Jorene and Bud were blessed with two daughters, Cynthia and Annie, and one son, Scott. Scott passed away shortly after birth, but always remained in their hearts.

Jorene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Creston all of her life, where she served as a deacon and an elder, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, was a member of the PW, the Ladies Circle and the Couples Circle with her husband, Bud. Jorene was an excellent seamstress and she loved her dogs, Buck and Mysti.
Survivors include her two daughters: Rev. Cynthia Ripperger of Creston and Anne (Randy) Vicker of Creston; her three grandchildren: Sarah (Mark) Miller of Hinsdale, Illinois, Clint (Amber) Vicker of Creston and Scott Vicker of Creston; four great-grandchildren: Cade (Abby Raney) Vicker, Corbyn Vicker, Madeline Miller and Henry Miller; a sister-in-law, Martha Belle Davis; a brother-in-law, George Hollinger; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jorene was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud in 1984; and son, Scott Kendall Sobotka in 1959.
