Marlene Lentz, 65, of Creston, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. A memorial visitation will at 1 p.m., Monday, prior to service time. Marlene Frances Lentz, was born April 22, 1958, the daughter of James Edwin Towzey and Dorothy Mae (Ireland) Towzey in Akron, Ohio. Marlene was educated in the East Bay schools where she graduated with the class of 1977. She later earned her CNA.
Marlene was united in marriage to James Lentz on March 11, 1989, in St. Petersburg, Florida. While in Florida, she was a homemaker. She also had part-time jobs like in-home daycare, in-home healthcare and also volunteered for the little league baseball and softball teams the kids were involved. Marlene and James later divorced.
After moving to Creston in 1999, Marlene met John Doyle, and the two have been together since. While in Creston, Marlene began working at McDonald’s. She worked until her health began to decline. Memaw loves all her grandbabies – now, she is their special angel who will protect them all through eternity.
Surviving Marlene is her significant other, John Doyle of Creston; her mother, Dorothy Towzey of Creston; her children: Michael Ramsey of Afton, Denice (Nicholas) Chapin of New Bern, North Carolina, Genevieve (Darrell) Pershin of Casey, Daphne Doyle of Atlantic and Abbie (Jay Jackson) Doyle of Georgetown, Texas; a brother, Lawrence Brock of Florida; a sister, Marcia Crosser-Ehmke of Creston; 12 grandchildren: Natasha Pershin, Callie Pershin, Derek Chapin, Izzy Jurgens, Chloe Pershin, Phaelan Kelley, Wyatt Pershin, Bradon Kelley, Nonah Chapin, Aedus Kelley, Lucas Ramsey, Fynlee Ramsey and Saylor Ramsey.
Marlene is preceded in death by her father, James Towzey; brothers, Richard Brock and Billy Brock along with a brother in-law, Richard Ehmke.
