Jerry “Shep” Parker, 79, of Creston, died Friday, April 21, 2023, at Bedford Specialty Care. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Rev. Tim Maxa will officiate. Flag presentation will be provided by Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post 1797. Burial will be at North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Open visitation will be 2-7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 24, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Jerry Max Parker was born Aug. 23, 1943, in Clearfield to Paul Lawrence Parker and Mary Kay (Olney) Parker. He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1961. Following school Jerry served his country as a part of the United States Army National Guard.

On Aug. 20, 1966, at the Clearfield Methodist Church, Jerry was united in marriage to Barbara Ellen (Briggs). Jerry farmed with his father on the family farm near Clearfield most of his life. Jerry and Barb later divorced. Jerry moved to Creston in 1986. Jerry worked for Rug Doctor for several years and continued to cash rent his farm. Jerry loved collecting and racing cars. He raced in Corning, Mount Ayr, Boone and other area tracks specializing in late model, hobby stock and pro street racing.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Melissa Douglas and Jennifer Parker, both of Lenox; son, Jason Parker of Clearfield; brother, Paul “Junior” (Marsha) Parker of Mineola; sisters, Hazel Riedesel of Altoona and Mary Alice Hardisty of Texas; six grandchildren: Dylan Douglas (Regan), Madison Alitz (Austin), Taylor Parker (Deedee), Grant Miller (Hadlie Sickels), Bailey Miller, Josie Miller and four great-grandchildren: Jessen Douglas, Bentley Alitz, Ava Parker and Ariella Parker.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Linda Smith and Ardella Jones; brothers Jim Parker and Harold Parker and granddaughter, Macy Miller.
