Clifford Eugene Olsen was born June 4, 1931, in Audubon County to Elmer and Olive (Wolfe) Olsen. He was educated in Audubon and graduated from high school in 1949. He served in the National Guard for 13 years.
On Feb. 27, 1953, Cliff was united in marriage to Lois Ann (Henriksen) in Audubon. Clifford and Lois were high school sweethearts and celebrated 70 years of marriage in February. They settled in Audubon County near Lois’ folks and Cliff was employed with Hootman Plumbing and Heating and Frank Brothers Plumbing and Heating before becoming a licensed self-employed plumber.
He then moved to Audubon, where he built a brick building for a shop and temporary home, while building the basement with plans to build above it. After the flood of 1958, Cliff became employed by the city of Audubon as custodian of the Memorial Building and became responsible for the Audubon Fire Department equipment 24 hours a day.
In 1960 the family moved to farm with Gilbert and Lyle Henriksen near Greenfield. In 1962 they moved to Denver for their daughter Cheryl’s health and Cliff drove a truck. In 1966 they bought an acreage in Spaulding where they continued to live after remodeling the home. Cliff continued to be a self-employed contractor and later managed Regency Park for 10 years until he retired in 1996. Cliff always loved going fishing and camping.
