Janice Ritter

Janice Ritter, 77, of Des Moines, passed away March 15, 2023, at MercyOne in Des Moines. Services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, March 20 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday. Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Janice, daughter of Roy & Edna (Mosier) Sickels, was born June 5, 1945, in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Mount Ayr High School. Janice lived most of her adult life in Creston where she retired from Matura after 30 years of service. She moved to Des Moines two years ago.

Survivors include her children James (Suzanne) Ritter of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Kimberly (J.R.) Tarter of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brothers Bob (Kay) Sickels and Bill (Deb) Sickels, all of Mount Ayr and twin Jack (Rita) Sickels of Des Moines; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and her beloved pet dog, Tippi.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Carroll (Shirlee) Sickels.
