Kenneth Clark, 88, of Afton, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge in Afton. Pastor Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Open visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at Powers Funeral Home in Afton.

Kenneth Dean Clark was born Nov. 27, 1934, son of George E. and Delilah I. (Bonnes) Clark in Council Bluffs. They moved to Union County in 1938. Kenny was educated in Pleasant Township schools and graduated from Arispe High School in 1953. Soon he was farming on the homeplace, the Cathcart farm. He also worked for Brick Smith farming.
In 1957, Kenny married Janice Wilson. Together they had three sons: Ricky, Randy and Bobby. In 1960, they moved to the Brick Smith farm, where they continued to farm and work. Kenny and Janice later divorced.
On July 27, 1968, Kenny married Earla (Jennings) Welcher in Grant City, Missouri. Earla had four children that joined the Clark family: Dale, Denise, Dora and Danny. They made their home on Kenny’s farm, northeast of Arispe. Kenny custom farmed for many years. He stayed busy with community activities, including the Farmer’s Co-op Board of Directors, First National Bank Board of Directors and the Cattlemen’s Association. He had also belonged to the Lakeshore Golf and Country Club and numerous other social activities.
Survivors include his two daughters Denise (Robert) Rowe of Afton and Dora (Charlie) Atteberry of Creston; one son Danny (Judy) Welcher of Lorimor; daughter-in-law Tracy Clark of Bellevue, Nebraska; brother Dennis (Twila) Loury of Afton; sister-in-law Nellie Loury of Creston; 10 grandchildren: Jake Rowe, Angie Morgan, Lacy Rowe, Nicki Welcher, Lee Madison, Tiffney Clark, Anna Sengelman and Amber Clark; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Earla in 2015; four sons: Dale Welcher, Rick, Randy and Bobby Clark; two brothers, Dale (Clara) Clark and Larry Loury and a sister Erma Carns.
