David Hipsley, 73, of Afton, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center in Mount Ayr. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston. Rev. Jodi Rushing will officiate. Visitation is open to the public 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at the funeral home. David will be cremated following the funeral and will be laid to rest Monday, Jan. 23 in the Graceland Cemetery.

David Glenn Hipsley was born Nov. 18, 1949, the son of Helen Lorraine (Kelley) and Lewis Glenn Hipsley. He spent a majority of his young life in Clarinda before moving with his parents and sister to Creston. He later moved to CARE in Afton. He was employed by Innovative Industries for more than 45 years. David worked as part of the evening janitorial crew from 1971 until 2016.
David was a nature lover and a collector of many things over the years. He liked country music, game shows, soap operas, the Iowa Hawkeyes and western movies. His most recent hobbies included puzzling and playing bingo.
David is survived by cousins; his CARE family and many friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Ellen Hipsley, who passed away in 2011. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn.
